Buildtech proudly delivers first of the Regional Housing Programme (RHP)

The latest home to be completed as part of nine new homes for South Canterbury, was delivered by home in collaboration with its build partners and opened by HNZ in Somerset St on Wednesday.

The opening of the two-bedroom home, still to be tenanted, is part of the Government's commitment to build 1000 new state homes every year of this term. Timaru is one of 15 regions throughout the country to receive new homes as part of a 155 new state home project.

Two one-bedroom homes in Andrew St and two-bedroom homes in Canada and Orbell streets were completed earlier this year. A two-bedroom home in Old North Rd and two one-bedroom homes will be open by the end of the year.

At Wednesday's opening, Timaru District counselor Peter Burt said the council was collaborating with HNZ on the builds to make sure planning, resourcing, and getting consents went smoothly.

Also in attendance, was Rangitata-based Labour list MP Jo Luxton who said she was proud to be part of a Government 'driven to give Kiwis warm, dry homes'. "Someone's going to be so happy to be living in this home," she said.
